How do you know if you are a Deliberate Leader?

With so many types of leadership styles, it’s hard to know which one best encompasses the type of leader you are.

Are you curious about whether you are a deliberate leader?   

A deliberate leader is someone who possesses a deep understanding of themselves and their impact on others, coupled with a clear vision for the future. They make intentional and informed decisions, guided by their values and principles, rather than reacting impulsively to situations. Deliberate leaders are adept at leading a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and innovation within their teams. They prioritise building trust and collaboration, empowering their team members to contribute effectively towards shared goals.

What do these attributes look like in practice? 

Deliberate leaders are skilled communicators, actively listening, asking insightful questions, and providing constructive feedback. Effective communication creates a safe and non-judgmental space where their teams can freely express themselves and explore their thoughts and emotions. 

Empathy is another essential trait. Leaders understand and relate to the experiences and challenges faced by their teams. This means they can offer genuine support and guidance tailored to specific needs and circumstances. Familiarity with the team enables them to empathise at a higher level. 

A strong sense of intuition and insight means they identify patterns, uncover underlying issues, and help their team gain clarity and perspective. They facilitate self-discovery and personal growth by asking thought-provoking questions and guiding team members to find their own solutions. This reduces the burden of the leader needing to have all the answers all the time and increases accountability for team members to be resourceful and have a go. 

As motivators and encouragers, they inspire their teams to set ambitious goals, push past their limits, and believe in their potential. They celebrate successes, no matter how small, and provide the necessary motivation and accountability to keep the team on track.
