It’s time for my annual year in review.
My year in review contains all the usual suspects, data, numbers, insights… in my world this equates to the number of leadership teams I have worked with, the number of words written, articles and books published, and clients coached, among other metrics.
All important data. And among all this I look for data that shows me I have been deliberate.
Did I do what I said I would?
If goals were not met, what got in the way?
Are they goals that I need to take into next year, or can I let them go?
Goals are not meant to feel like a weight on your shoulders, but rather a catalyst that keeps you moving, much like being on a bike.
If the goal feels too heavy, it may become unachievable. The weight of the goal cracks you rather than helping you. If the goal is too easy, there won’t be much of a challenge. You’ll glide through without even noticing it.
A great goal develops you. It moves you from a point to another, deliberately.
So if you are also thinking about your year in review, this time of year, don’t be afraid to let goals go or change them. Goals need to serve where you want to go. You are not serving the goal.
What are you choosing to be deliberate about in 2024?
How will you be a more deliberate leader?
See you next year for a deliberately fabulous year!
